COVID-19 and BDO Client Services

COVID-19 is a fast-moving situation. BDO continues to work as normal and in the context of our responsibility to support our people, clients and wider community. BDO recognises both the seriousness of the situation and our responsibility to do all that we can to minimise the risk of the virus spreading further while continuing to provide excellent standards of client services.
Our business continuity management plans are in place and are informing our response to this situation and we are confident that there will be no tangible impact on the provision of our audit, tax, accounting and advisory client services.
As a minimum we are and continue to follow guidance from WHO, the States of Guernsey and Public Health Guernsey.
We have taken a number of measures, as follows:
As of 18 March 2020 we initiated remote working across our business in the interests of encouraging social distancing and then fully closed our office premises on 24 March 2020. Despite the recent emergence of the second wave in Guernsey and subsequent lockdown on 23 January 2021, we consider this has had a minimal impact on our client service delivery following our successful transition into remote working.
Client Communications and Working Practices
Maintaining open and regular communication with our clients remains key to how we work together. Our technological infrastructure and business continuity planning enable us to continue to work without interruption and with virtual options for collaboration. In the interests of social distancing, virtual meetings with our clients have replaced face-to-face meetings. We have also worked closely with our clients to review and adjust any on-site working scenarios at this time.
If there were to be an impact on a specific client we shall discuss this with the client at the earliest possible point.
We have taken a number of steps to ensure our operations can support a change to working practices. We operate remote working regularly and we have a fully operational remote working IT infrastructure. We have been successfully working remotely as a whole firm and are confident that our client services can continue to be undertaken remotely.
With BDO Guernsey’s business continuity management processes, our people have the necessary technical functionality, access and skills to progress with client work and stay in tune with your team’s deliverables.
Our full ‘work from home’ strategy means business as usual for our clients.
