BDO Guernsey provides tax, audit and assurance, advisory and business outsourcing services to companies across all sectors of the economy. We’re a locally owned business and a member of the BDO global network of public accounting, tax and advisory firms with a considerable depth and range of resources around the world. Indeed, it’s through our membership of one of the pre-eminent global networks that we have gained wide experience of meeting the needs of clients who are growing and trading internationally.
Our core purpose is ‘helping people and businesses to succeed’. We do this through the in-depth local expertise of our people and through our working practices which combine the global standards that BDO is known for. At BDO you can be yourself - we value you as an individual and want you to realise your aspirations. We give you the challenge and support you need and you are able to shape your own career according to your strengths, skills and personality.
As auditors, we look to see if the client’s statements about their financial position are true, fair and accurate. We work closely with their finance team and other key people to get to know their business and understand the risks they face. We can then identify any weaknesses in their financial statements, business systems or culture, and so advise them on suitable solutions, to help their business succeed.
Being a BDO auditor means variety. You get to work on a range of different organisations, with each day bringing new challenges. We build long-term relationships with our clients, getting to know them and their business. Client visits form an integral part of this. They are a great way to absorb the atmosphere of a business, get a sense of its culture, and how the people within the business work, giving us the opportunity to discover what motivates them to perform – all of which are major factors in the health of a business.
As an Audit Trainee you will form part of the audit team. You are part of our team from day one, playing active roles in assignments and contributing to your team’s success. You will be expected to study for and complete an accounting qualification, however you will be fully supported during this period, and gain first-hand relevant experience whilst you study.
From the start, you will be assisting the team by obtaining audit evidence, preparing analysis of accounting data and being actively involved with client relationships. You’ll be included in the whole audit process from planning, through execution to finalization. We are currently looking for candidates who would be able to start in August to September 2023.
We are looking for A-level school leavers, who have gained 3 A-levels grade A*-C, in any discipline and received grade 4 (C) in English Language and Maths at GCSE.
